Thanksgiving Day

We had a wonderful day. We had great food, great company, and a great time just being together. I hope to get some pictures posted soon, probably a slide show. Sidney invited his good friend Heiko for dinner and then we all played Rock Band. It was great, even Makenna joined in by dancing.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving as well. We have so many things to be thankful for.

Brian's Surgery

Brian had surgery today in order to have a knot removed from his chest. It has been sent to pathology for testing so we'll keep everyone posted. On a lighter note...he did great and he was hilarious under the influence of anesthesia. Even the nurse was talking about how funny he was. He was given instructions to eat/drink only clear liquids but the whole way home he kept talking about pizza. I put my foot down to that but then he said he wanted chicken tortilla soup from On the Border. So yea folks, we had soup and a lot of chips and salsa...don't tell the doctor!
Don't let the picture fool ya...he was just playing around
acting pitiful for the camera.

Playtime

Starburst

Makenna has a big bucket of toys and her latest thing is take every item out one by one and throw it back over her head. However, there is one item that always catches her attention longer than any other one...a package of Starburst from Halloween. She's been trying her hardest to get that little package open....she tries every night. She tugs and pulls but nothing...she's so cute to watch. I don't know what we're going to do when she's finally successful.

Makenna is so cute!

I know....every mother says that! But she is...she just has the cutest actions. One in particular...for MONTHS now she's been checking out my earrings. She will put her sweet little hand on my face and push it to the side in order to get a good look at my earrings. Then she turns my face to look at the other side. She turns her little head to the side when she does it and I just think it's adorable! She's finally found her own little earrings. She's very careful not to pull or tug at mine or hers...she's very dainty with her touch....very girlie. :)

Speaking of girlie...Makenna's teachers love to watch her eat cheerios. She's very particular in the one that she picks and is careful in the way she picks it up and puts it to her mouth. I swear if she could use a napkin, she'd be dabbing the corners of her mouth! ha ha...

"Teefers"

Makenna has teeth! FINALLY! She's 10 1/2 months old and got her 2 bottom teeth in this past weekend...yes...at the same time! I guess she figured she better hurry up and do both to make up for lost time.
She used those teeth the other night when she ate her first hamburger from McDonalds! She tore it up! Yummy!

Burned Bagel for Breakfast

I went to work this morning and was planning, like most mornings to eat my breakfast at work. I had one of those breakfast bagels that you heat up using the manufactures heating tray. I set the microwave and went back to my desk to check my emails and all of the sudden I heard this funny little noise...it wasn't the smoke alarm but the fire alarm on the security panel and then all the sudden, I remembered my bagel. The the smoke alarm started going nuts...I never even smelled anything! I went back to the microwave and saw all the smoke billowing out of it (even with the door closed) and started grabbing towels to fan the smoke. I called the fire department...they were already on their way. It was funny and embarrassing all the same time.
The firefighters were laughing at me taking pictures of the scene. I took one of them too but my phone didn't save the image.

I ended up eating goldfish for breakfast.

Dance Lessons

Brian and I had the best time taking dance lessons at Arthur Murray's Dance Studio last night. We learned the waltz, the foxtrot, and the merenge. We hope to take some more maybe next summer...it would be a great treat for our anniversary.

Pigtails

Makenna's teacher loves playing with her hair and calling her princess. This is only the 2nd time that she come home with pigtails...isn't she adorable? Looks like she may be up to something though...what do you think?

More Election Thoughts

I know I've posted a lot today but hey, that's what blogging is for right? I went to vote this morning and while standing in my 3 HOUR line, I got interested in a conversation that a married couple was having behind me along with their 3 year old daughter. The daddy was asking his little girl if she wanted to go into the booth with him and he would let her choose the candidates. I got to thinking back when Peyton learned the little rhyme, "Any many minny moe, catch a tiger by his toe...." He couldn't say tiger but would say "skyger" instead. Not too long ago while sitting at the dinner table, he started the little rhyme again and hesitated when he got to the word tiger. You could tell he was concentrating to pronounce it correctly. He succeeded. He took it slowly but he got it right and then let out a huge smile. He was so proud of himself. Brian and I were too...but there again is a moment that makes you proud but at the same time makes you realize how fast they grow up.

Election Day

Brian and I were getting ready for work this morning in separate areas when Peyton comes into the bathroom and says, "mommy, make sure you vote for John McCain today!" I said OK. I later asked Brian if he had put Peyton up to that. He told me that he had not said a word to Peyton about it and was as amazed with the statement as I was.

Peyton's class talked about the presidential candidates yesterday along with honoring our country and flag. It's amazing what these little minds pick up and the opinions that immediately form. It's just a reminder that as a parent, I must always be on my toes in controlling what I say and do because I too influence his surroundings right along with church and school. Monkey see Monkey do huh?

"Lord, please help me to be the role model for my children that you want me to be. Give me opportunities to teach them every day according to Your Word, not by my ways or by my habits. Make my actions and my words speak only sounds of love. Help me to train them up in the way that they should go...a way that is perfect for Your will. Bless my house and help it be a place of refuge and peace. In Jesus Name, Amen."

Makenna Update

Makenna took her first step(s) last Saturday!!!! She was walking between her daddy's extended arms toward the coffee table. She took about 3 steps. How exciting!!!!! (actually as her mother, I was a bit sad...my baby is growing up!) I hope to get a video on here soon of her taking steps...stay tuned!

The Moon

On Halloween night, while driving to our various trunk or treat locations, Peyton pointed out the moon. He said, "momma, look at the moon. It's a semi-circle". I looked at Brian and asked if he knew what a semi circle was at age 5....I just learned it last week (ha ha...). Peyton perks back up and says, "momma, a semi-circle is half a circle". "ohhhh, ok honey"...laughing... Kids are so smart!

Halloween Slide Show

Halloween

The kids had so much fun Trick or Treating. We went to Taylors Church of God and Riverside Baptist to "trunk or treat" and then we hit various friends and neighbors. We came back to our house and met up with Granna and Grandpa who were planning on watching the kids while Brian and I went to a party. While we were gone, Makenna had her first toostie roll! She doesn't have any teeth but she knows what to do!
