O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A

(singing)
"OOOOk-lahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain,
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet, when the wind comes right behind the rain!"

We're Oklahoma bound in just 3 more days...

Let me hear you SCREAM!!!

Brian and I went into this past weekend on the sleep deprived side. Makenna was up all night screaming her little head off and we couldn't figure out what in the world was wrong. The week before she had tubes put in so our minds went straight to that thinking that her ears were bothering her. She didn't want to be rocked, held, left alone or laid down. Since she kept arching her back we thought it may be gas but then she would throw her head back. We laid her down on the floor in her bedroom and she just flopped around like a fish out of water. We finally took her to bed with us and we laid there miserably while she cried and slowly butted us toward the edges of the bed and she kept kicking Brian in the face.

Saturday, it finally hit us....she was teething...MOLARS! It has been awful! Not only a molar but TWO molars, top and bottom. Once we figured that out, we gave her some teething tablets and she finally went to sleep....and so did we. :)

It really is amazing how two children can be so different. Peyton never expressed any emotion while teething. He was so laid back and easy going and one day he just had all of his teeth. Makenna wants the world to know her pain. She's my drama child....with 7 teeth and 2 on the way.

Southern Gentleman

Yesterday after church we went to Firehouse Subs for lunch. Peyton grabbed his cup and went over to help himself to something to drink. Brian and I took Makenna over to get a table and Peyton soon joins us with his drink. He had gotten an iced tea...but here's the catcher...he added a lemon wedge to the edge of his cup! It was so cute and hysterical at the same time. He's a 40 year old in a 6 year body...ha ha....

This is for you, Mom and Dad!

This little rocking chair was mine when I was little. Daddy fixed it up for me to use with Peyton and Makenna but Peyton never took to it like Makenna has. She loves to rock...

Miss Manners

How's this for manners? Makenna is enjoying her food but look closer...see her foot? She likes to put her foot up on the table while she's eating and then she likes to kick her chair back. She thinks it's so funny but we're having a hard time breaking her from this. Thank goodness the china cabinet is there to break her fall! Hopefully she'll be over this habit by the time we rearrange the furniture or have to move her chair. Don't tell Emily Post!

Rite Aid/CVS Deals

I was so excited yesterday when I ran across this great deal at Rite Aid. I purchased 5 packs of Huggies diapers which were on sale for 9.99 each with a $2.00 rebate on one package. I had 5-$5.00 off coupons to apply to each and a $5 off $25 purchase coupon and a $10.00 gift card that I had received by perticipating in a past Rite Aid/Huggies deal. My ticket rang up to $12.00 minus my rebate of $2.00...which means...I SPENT ONLY $2.00 PER PACKAGE OF HUGGIES DIAPERS! That's something to sing about especially when your daycare goes through them like hotcakes!
Then I jumped across the street to CVS and bought 3 packs of Diet Pepsi and Mt Dew along with 2 clinical strenth deoderants all for $3.00! (after ECB's) I had 2-$2.00 coupons for the deoderant and they gave me $10.00 ECBs back on that deal. Then I had a B2G1 coupon for the Pepsi and they gave me $2.00 back on that deal plus I had a $4 off $20 purchase. Whew who!
I would like to encourage everyone to stop by here and/or here They give the best coupons and they really spell out the ad deals.
Happy Shopping!

Peyton's Birthday - Take 2

For Peyton's birthday we had a party at the bowling alley with the family. He bowled pretty a good game...86! He was very excited at all the cool stuff he got including the Wii games, the movies, the Hulk pj's...but most of all the Bakugans. Makenna abvously couldn't bowl so we dressed her up as a cheerleader and cheer she did. She clapped and shouted, "Yay!". It was too cute. Happy Birthday Peyton!

Peyton's Birthday - Take 1

Peyton's birthday was Saturday. He turned 6! We treated him to Chucky Cheese for good pizza and a lot of fun and games. He had a great time...

Lotion, Shampoo, and Body Wash

Makenna grabbed a small bottle of powder and was pretending to put some on her hands and rub it in like lotion. Then she started "washing" her hair and belly.
She's so girlie...I love watching her play.

Tube Surgery

Makenna had her tube surgery this morning. We had to be there at 6:30. Dr. Phillips was not only going to being doing the tube surgery but he was also going to take a telescope down her throat and see was causing a "rattle" sound in her little chest. He suggested that it may be reflux. She came through with flying colors although her recovery from anesthesia was something else. We had been warned several times with Peyton's surgeries but he was always so sweet and for the most part just lethargic. Makenna on the other hand let us know real quick that she was not happy with Dr. Phillips! The nurse reminded us that everyone is different and that's why they make chocolate AND vanilla ice cream. :) The best news??? No reflux or anything other than congestion in her chest. Maybe now we can get some peace back in the house from 7:30pm to 7am.

Here the nurse is checking Makenna's heart rate.

My little baby being taken away!

Makenna squirming in her anger to get the heck out of there!
She was much better once we got her dressed and left.
She took a 2 1/2 hour nap once we got home.

Makenna is walking!

Well...the day has finally come...Makenna is walking at 14 months. She's been cruisin' around the furniture and holding onto fingers for a long time but tonight she got brave and took off on her own. There's no stoppin' her now! She's having tube surgery in the morning...I'm curious see how much her walking will improve with that little balance helper! More to come...

Visit from Granna

Granna came over and brought some pre-Easter Easter goodies. Makenna had the best time screaming over a little bunny with a pull string. Makenna and Peyton both enjoyed the chocolate covered marshmallow eggs. Yummy!

Play

I love that even though our kids are 5 years apart, they still love to play together. :) I'm not sure if it'll stay that way but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.

Zoo Day

We decided with the beautiful, sunny weather do get out and take the kids to the zoo. We went to Cici's first for pizza and then hit the zoo for an afternoon of enjoying the sunshine. It felt so wonderful to have short sleeves on! Apparently everyone else had the same idea because the zoo and playground was packed! We saw monkeys, goats, lions, giraffes, alligators, and flamingos. We even saw a baby orangutan. They were working on the petting zoo portion of the zoo so they had the goat stationed in a different area over near the African animals. We were enjoying the lions and noticing that they were glued to an area in the corner of the fence. Come to find out, they were overlooking the goat! Can you say "circle of life"? ha ha... They wanted lunch! After walking through the zoo we played on the playground and Makenna got to swing for the first time. She loved the wind blowing through her hair and of course my camera decided to go dead. So no pictures of that but here's what we've got for the day. I'm so glad that we bought a membership for this season. Hopefully, we'll get down to Columbia soon and spend time at that zoo.

First Snow

We were having family time in the living room this evening when Brian looked out the french door and said, "oh my gosh! it's snowing!". We all ran over to the door and windows and sure enough...big, beautiful snowflakes were falling and the ground was already covered. We got dressed as soon as we could to run outside. I wanted Makenna to experience the snow actually falling on her. She loved it. She kept cooing and sticking her tongue out. The boys got to have a quick snowball fight and of course I got to take pictures! Yea for snow!
